Christmas is in the air!
With Christmas just two weeks away, joyous clatter is arising throughout the state of Oklahoma, with every creature taking part in the many festive holidays events going on this year.
A moment with Kris Kringle, a magical presentation of “The Nutcracker,” and slide down a 150-foot slope; among other activities has a lot of family’s getting into the spirit of the holiday.
Our story begins with warm gingerbread cookies, steaming mugs of hot cocoa, and candy canes galore. Those young and young at heart can partake in any one (or a combination) of the following holiday events:
Downtown in December; Oklahoma City
Lace up your ice skates, glide down a 150-ft man-made snow tubing slope, or spend an afternoon visiting with Santa at this years’ Downtown in December. Sip on a steamy cup of apple cider while you take a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride to take in all of the twinkling lights and beautifully decorated streets. Free river and canal cruises are also available.
Winterfest; Downtown Tulsa
Featuring ice skating, breakfast with the big man in red himself, gingerbread house decorating contests and cozy horse-drawn carriage rides Winterfest sets the season aglow with an astounding 44’ tree that is set to twinkle with over 35,000 lights. Live entertainment, a holiday-themed marketplace, and of course candy canes can be found in the BOK Center.
The Nutcracker Ballet; Oklahoma City & Tulsa
Share in the magic of the season this December by joining the Oklahoma City Ballet and/or the Tulsa Ballet as they present one of the most endearing holiday traditions – “The Nutcracker”. Generation after generation have been enthralled with the tale of a young girl’s fantasy of the Mouse King, Nutcracker Prince and his toy soldier brigade that combine to create a fairy tale Christmas.
Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good night!
